Born in the pubs of upstate New York and raised on Guinness and guitar feedback, 1916 is what happens when Irish punk, psychobilly, and just the right amount of chaos collide. What started in 2006 as a humble acoustic act playing rebel tunes in Rochester NY bars quickly morphed into a full-throttle Celtic rock machine. By 2012, their debut album A Drop of the Pure had not only won them global fans but also landed them their own Pandora station—because apparently the internet likes whiskey-soaked rebellion too. Over the years, they’ve opened for acts like Dropkick Murphys and Twenty One Pilots, released a string of critically acclaimed albums, and kept bar tabs high across the Northeast and beyond.

Today, 1916 is louder, rowdier, and tighter than ever, featuring founding frontman Billy Herring, psychobilly bassist Ryan Hurley (yes, that’s an upright bass you hear), accordion wizard Sam Sarratori, drum dynamo Chad Paetznick, and mandolin mischief-maker Karl Kersey. Their latest release, Conscience of Kings—produced by punk legend Ted Hutt—is a foot-stomping, pint-raising masterclass in Celtic mayhem. With tour plans brewing on both sides of the Atlantic, 1916 is ready to bring their rebel rock to every bar, club, and festival brave enough to have them.
